讲座要点 Key points of the lecture
1.The presentation will provide a general picture about the history and current situation of business Chinese course at college level in USA. The analysis will be made mainly from the following aspects: the role that business Chinese course plays; curriculum design; course requirements; teaching materials used, etc.
2.Focusing on targeted learners of business Chinese course, including course prerequisites, students’ background in Chinese language, academic interest, purpose and expectations of taking business Chinese course.
3.Exploreing teaching-related issues, including teaching model, teaching approach, classroom instruction, design of after class reinforcement, company visit, etc.
4.Sharing with audience some thoughts and suggestions regarding how to push forward business Chinese, especially how to improve the effectiveness of teaching business Chinese.
Jiao Xiaoxiao is Coordinator of Chinese Language Program at the East Asian Studies Department of New York University, President of Chinese Language Teachers Association of Greater New York, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Chinese Language Teaching and Research in the U.S. She has served as director of study abroad program for several institutions in America. From 2017 to 2019, she served as Coordinator of the Lauder Chinese Language and Culture Immersion Program of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
