\n\u672c\u6b21\u8bb2\u5ea7\u4ee5\u5bf9\u6bd4\u8bed\u4e49\u5b66\u7684\u89c6\u89d2\uff0c\u9610\u91ca\u5728\u5370\u6b27\u8bed\u73af\u5883\u4e0b\u8fdb\u884c\u6c49\u5b57\u6559\u5b66\u7684\u4e00\u4e9b\u57fa\u672c\u601d\u8def\uff0c\u901a\u8fc7\u5177\u4f53\u4f8b\u8bc1\uff0c\u6c9f\u901a\u4eba\u7c7b\u6587\u5b57\u7b26\u53f7\u4e4b\u95f4\u7684\u5171\u901a\u6027\u7406\u636e\uff0c\u5c55\u793a\u5982\u4f55\u6709\u6548\u63d0\u5347\u5b66\u751f\u5174\u8da3\uff0c\u589e\u5f3a\u5b66\u4e60\u52a8\u673a\uff0c\u8fdb\u800c\u589e\u5f3a\u5b66\u4e60\u6548\u679c\u3002<\/p>\n

Key points of the lecture<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Chinese character \u7b14 b\u01d0 means \u201ethere are hairs under the bamboo tube\u201d, whilst the English word \u201cpen” derives from the Latin word for \u201cfeather”; the character \u201c\u8457\u201c zh\u00f9 suggests that the Chinese used to write down characters on \u201cgrass\u201c, whilst the English word \u201cpaper\u201c derives directly from the Latin term \u201cpapyrus\u201c; the character \u201c\u4e66\u5951\u201c sh\u016bq\u00ec records the idea of \u201ccarving\u201c, and at the same time, the etymology of the English word \u201cwrite\u201c reveals its original meaning of \u201ccarving\u201c as well… Apparently, the human writing system is full of consistencies If those consistencies were to be revealed and explained
\nadequately, they should serve as a useful resource for learners of Chinese as a foreign language to further enhance the ability of character self studying and the acquisition of Chinese characters in general. This lecture will explain some key thoughts on teaching Chinese characters in an Indo European environment from the perspective of comparative semantics. By means of concrete examples, we will connect the common grounds of the human writing systems, and show how to effectively promote students\u2019 interest, strengthen their learning motivation and, hence, improve their study results<\/p>\n

\nMENG Dehong<\/strong> holds a PhD in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from the Beijing Normal University, where he also achieved his master\u2019s degree in Classical Philology. He is the chairman of the Department of Chinese as a Foreign Language at the Faculty of Chinese Language and Literature at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, and a researcher at the Beijing Research Base of Sino Foreign Cultural Exchange. His papers were published numerous times in various important journals he is the author of “\u5176\u6709\u8bcd \u7406 \u7b2c\u4e8c\u8bed\u8a00\u6559\u5b66\u6c49\u82f1\u5b57\u8bcd\u8bed\u4e49\u5bf9\u6bd4 \u5206\u6790 42 \u4f8b” (“It makes sense – a comparative analysis of 42 examples of Chinese and English semantics in the context of second language teaching”). His primary research interests focus on Semantics and Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. He has abundant experience in teaching Chinese as a second language and international Chinese teacher trainings 2020.<\/p>\n
