The\u00a0<\/span>1st International Symposium on Contemporary Asian Theatre<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0will take place\u00a0<\/span>in G\u00f6ttingen on\u00a0Dec. 8 and\u00a09\u00a0with a<\/span>\u00a0theme on\u00a0“Between Asia and Europe, Between Local Specificity and Global Recognition.” The symposium\u00a0consists of four parts\u00a0and is\u00a0open to the public audience:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
1)\u00a0<\/span>Three Keynote Speeches<\/b><\/span>: on artistic exchange and cultural diplomacy; and talks were given by artistic directors and curators\u00a0of theater festivals to reflect on the contemporary theater landscapes in India and China.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
2)\u00a0<\/span>Two Conference Sessions<\/b><\/span>: international critics, scholars, and artists will present talks about and discuss “Local Specificity” and “Global Recognition.”<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
3)\u00a0<\/span>One Artist Forum<\/b><\/span>: an online forum for Europe-based Asian artists to discuss any issues of\u00a0interest to them;\u00a0<\/span>an introductory webpage created\u00a0to showcase their artistic works.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
4)\u00a0<\/span>Three Workshops<\/b><\/span>: developed by scholars from\u00a0G\u00f6ttingen, Cambridge, Heidelberg,\u00a0and\u00a0Berkeley in California;\u00a0on virtual reality in theatre; on finding the communal through transborder art; on digital humanities and theatre archives.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
