About the Academic Confucius Institute at the University of Göttingen

On September 22, 2013, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters) signed the a framework agreement on the establishment of the Academic Confucius Institute at the University of Göttingen (AKI Göttingen). The Academic Confucius Institute Göttingen is operated based on a cooperation with two prestigious Chinese partner universities, Beijing Foreign Studies University and Nanjing University. On July 2, 2014, AKI Göttingen was inaugurated.

AKI Göttingen is the only academic Confucius Institute in Germany. While focusing on research on the didactics and practice of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL) as well as on modern China in the humanities, social sciences and economics, AKI Göttingen also facilitates academic exchanges between universities and promotes mutual understanding between Germany and China through various academic and other activities.
